What can volunteers do at TCHM?
Our mission is to create connections to Tri-Cities History. Whether it be through field trips, Museum programs and events, or a single visitor walking through our doors, we strive to get everyone’s hands on local history! Check out all of the ways you can be a part of making your local Museum a hub for history...for kids, for adults, for all!

Education Assistant
Support school field trips as a docent, sharing information about Museum exhibits. Field trips are typically in the spring and fall season between the hours of 9 am and 1 pm. Education volunteers may also assist with other public programming such as Tots at Tri-Cities story time or our summer Walking Tours.

CARC Volunteer
At our Community Archive and Research Center (CARC), lend a hand with a variety of tasks such as research, cataloging, inventory, or photography. This role is ‘behind the scenes’ and works directly with the Museum’s 73,000+ object collection. Volunteering hours are limited to project and staff availability, and an orientation to CARC is required.
Upcoming CARC Orientations:
August 2025
November 2025
February 2026

Events
Join your local Museum in being active in the community! We host multiple events in the year and attend many local community events. Help us prepare and plan, or simply help on the day of the event. Be a greeter, check-in volunteer, craft table attendance, bar service volunteer, buffet runner, or info table helper.
Help with our popular Haunted Museum, Holly Jolly Family Day, or our Murder! at the Museum events, or represent the Museum at events in the community.

Marketing & Photography
Got an artistic eye? Use your talent to help your local Museum look good! We often need photography at events and exhibit openings. Volunteers attend the event and capture the action in photos we can use to promote the Museum's work.
On the marketing side, interested volunteers can help with Museum’s social media platforms on an as-needed basis.
