Revisiting The Past: Anniversaries and the American Story
2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. Significant anniversaries at the local, state, and national levels invite us to reflect on our shared history. This exhibit will explore these questions through events including the founding of the United States, Michigan's journey to statehood, and the establishment of the communities of Ferrysburg, Grand Haven, and Spring Lake.
About This Exhibit
'Anniversaries' will encourage visitors to think about why we remember history, how we preserve it, and how we share it with future generations.
Historical Jeopardy! Play a round of historical Jeopardy with a friend and see who knows the most about our constitution and amendments.
Make a Bicentennial Quilt Square: Visitors can create a quilt square following the pattern created by a Grand Haven local quilter. Take your finished quilt square home, or add it to our community art piece displayed on the main floor!
'Sort the Sources' Activity: Visitors can see how they measure up in evaluating historical sources and identifying primary and secondary sources from artifacts in the Museum’s collection.
