Local historian documents the names and stories hidden in unmarked graves at Potter's Field

Each year since 1990, the Tri-Cities Historical Museum’s Board of Directors has recognized an individual whose dedication and passion for preserving the history of Northwest Ottawa County has left a lasting mark on our community. It is an honor that celebrates not only research and discovery, but also the heart, perseverance, and commitment that keeps our shared history alive for generations to come.

This year, the Museum board is proud to present the Historian of the Year to someone whose work embodies these very qualities: Chuck Fuller.

Chuck has dedicated years of his life to researching and documenting the names and stories of those buried in Potter’s Field at Lake Forest Cemetery. He began his research in 2002, driven by a curiosity that grew into a mission of remembrance, bringing dignity and recognition to those who had been forgotten. Through meticulous research, Chuck has given voice to those without one, ensuring that these lives are remembered and respected.

His dedication exemplifies what it truly means to be a historian. Chuck’s work will continue to educate and remind us all of the importance of every story, no matter how small.
